Oh My...

They say good things come to those who wait...Oh how I beg to differ! Nay! Good things come to those who wake up!

After several days of waking up around 11:00, I decided I'd better start waking up at a "decent hour" (meaning a really ungodly hour for someone on Winter Break, but a pretty good one for someone during school), otherwise, I would be totally screwed up once school started. So I took it upon myself Sunday night to set my alarm to a "decent hour" to wake up and went to bed. The next morning my alarm went of at said "decent hour" and I promptly got up, turned that stupid thing off, and went back to bed, only to wake at 12:15 later that day. I was very disgusted with myself for doing this, so, last night I once a gain set my alarm for this "decent hour"and then laid in bed for a couple hours trying to go to sleep. This morning, my alarm went off, I got up and hit the snooze button, and went back to my bed. Just as I was about to snuggle under my comfy covers I glanced at my window, I saw something orange glowing through my blinds. I peeked through the blind curiously and was amazed at what I saw. I got up quickly and peeked through the blinds again, "Oh my gosh..."I then quickly opened my blinds, letting in the light of the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen in my life. The light of the waking sun shone though the clouds turning them the most beautiful shades of pink and orange. I stood there at my window for a good while, just staring at the beauty all around me.

I am continually amazed by the glory and splendor of the earth that God created, and amazed at the grace he shows me by allowing me to see such a wondrous thing as this sunrise was. I cannot describe how content and loved I felt standing there staring at this miraculous picture spread before my window. I felt so amazed, so loved, to think that the same God who created such a beautiful sight, created me, and loves me more than I could ever imagine or know. I am truly blessed to be so loved.

So people, get outta your bed sometime and appreciate the beauty around you! There is much to be thankful for!

So, Christmas is over, and I have made out with some sweet loot. I'll make a complete list of plunder some other time, I'm too lazy right now. I will say this though, I got The Sims Unleashed expansion pack for my computer, it is such a cool game. It didn't work at first, because my computer didn't have enough RAM, but Peter fixed that quickly and I am now able to revel in the joy that is simulated life.

Not much else is going on around here. I am trying to finish writing some literature tests for my old 7th/8th grade teacher Mr. Mayer. It isn't the most enjoyable task, but his promises of pay keep me hard at work. I'm just going to finish them all and get it over and done with.

Ah the joys of Christmas break. . .

*sigh* I don't know what it is about her, but Jenell (my best friend since before I can remember) has this awesome way of bringing me up when I am way down. God bless her, I love that girl!
Hey guys! Merry Christmas!

I apologize for my grotesque lack of postings, but not much has been happening at the Harrison household. (Unless you really want to get into the gruesome details of my personal life, and I don't think you guys really want/need to hear that.) A couple of old friends stopped by the house yesterday, Megan Siefert and Scotty Lawrence. Megan is a friend of Nathan and I from last school year and Scotty is Nathan's best friend who is going to college in the far-off land of Idaho. I miss hanging out with Megan during lunch and I miss seeing Scotty all of the time, he's a sweet guy.

Ah yes, I had the rare "privledge" of going to my Grandmother's yesterday to work. I spent the day doing lots of housewifey little chores like polishing silver, vacuuming, folding laundry and mopping the floor. I was regular June Cleaver. (Sadly I forgot to wear my 50's dress and pearls. What a shame.)

I love my Grandma very much...but she's weird. Every towel has to be folded in a certain manner, and people can't tell her what they want for Christmas, she gets them whatever she thinks they want. For my birthday this year I got a ceramic clown doll and a hot pink shirt with cats on it. Need I say more? We are going to her house on Sunday to celebrate Christmas with my Dad's side of the family, I fear the time of gift-opening immensely. My Grandma seems to be under the impression that I am still eight years old and infatuated with all things involving the color pink, Barbies and other doll things. She's really a cool Grandma (I mean come on, do any of your grandmothers have a X-box they actually play with?) But I wish she would, I don't know, ask our opinion on what we want as gifts? Or just give us a gift certificate to some store? Mom says it's just not her way, and there's no sense in trying to change her mind after it's been made up. So I guess I'm just doomed to a Sunday filled with dolls and the color pink.

I...waza...aba...umm....

wow

I went to The Return of the King last night. There are not enough words in any language in the world to express how great that movie was. The closest I can come is to say that it is the best movie I ever have or will see. If this movie doesn't win the Oscar for Best Picture, it will be the final piece of evidence to prove that the Academy doesn't know anything about what makes a good movie.

Another "wow" is what happened to me tonight. It was the choir's first performance in the new auditorium and it was amazing. The songs we sang were beautiful, especially "Send the Messiah" which is a church favorite. I can't wait to go back and sing again tomorrow morning for the Sunday services, even though I have to be there at 8:00 AM.

I love weeks like these!

AHHHH! Creepy! I was messin' around on Google and I discovered that you can search for "The Lights are on but nobody's Home" and find my blog! I find that intensely disturbing.

Perhaps I'm just crazy...well actually, i know I'm crazy, but that's beside the point...ah well....
*sigh*

What a day, what a week! I'm beat and I still have two days to go! And the number of things I want to do over break is growing at an astonishing rate! But first things first, last night's choir concert.

I must say, last night was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a while. The music, the fun, the laughter! It was awesome. While the lesser choirs were slightly...disappointing, our two most advanced choirs were stupendous. Expressions was simply marvelous, I can't describe how beautifully they sang. Pro Cantorum (the group I perform in) was also good. While I can point out some things we could have improved, I'm still wholly satisfied with the three songs we sang. The only disappointment of the night was the fact that Mr. Frick (our ailing director) was not even mentioned throughout the program. I think they should have said something.

Tonight I had a make-up piano lesson to attend and (due to the fact that I have had little to no time to practice) my playing was not all it could have been. But I plan on practicing intensely over break to compensate for my slackerness over the last few weeks.

Tomorrow is my totally cool party/let's go see The Return of the king shindig. I'm very excited, but I'm also going to be very tired, and my week doesn't come close to stopping there. Saturday morning I have to practice my choral music for the performance at church on Sat. night and Sun. morning. Then, after hours of concentrated practice, I have to go perform my newly memorized music in front of the multitude of people who attend GSCC. (Good Shepherd Community Church) Oi! I'm gonna drop dead as soon as I get home on Sunday.

If I don't post much after tonight, you'll know why. I will be in a coma and unable to type.

*groan*....tired.....

I am so very exhausted. I can't wait for this week to end. I need something to elax me...I think I shall venture off to my bedroom for some relaxing Pilates.

I'd also like to say that one should never doubt a full-blooded Texan with an accent and a large military to back him up.

I made delicious peanut butter cookies....mmmm...nutty goodness.
Sheesh, what a day. First I wake up to news that President Bush's military forces in Iraq have captured Saddam Hussein. (And people doubted old George!) Then our family heads out for its annual Christmas shopping trip at Lloyd Center where I spend over $100 in the space of a few hours buying presents for my family and friends. (okay, okay, so I bought myself a frame for Nathan's senior picture and some new jeans. Those pants were getting so old and stained, I had to get new ones! So sue me!) And I'm still on an emotional/spiritual high from the events of last week. Wow, I'm gonna go crash in a while. I need to rest. Happiness and shopping can really wear a person out! Plus I have an appointment with my orthodontist tomorrow at a most ungodly hour. Ah well, such is life.

WOO! I'm so happy! We received word yesterday in choir that Mr. Frick (our choir director who is in the hospital and has been for over a month) is now doing much better. He may be able to go home next month! Apparently Mr. Frick was bragging about our choir to his doctors and nurses. He told them he directs "the best choir in the state". Also, yesterday we found out that one of the songs we will be singing for our choir competitions has the altos singing the melody! (for those of you who are not choir geeks, altos are the women who sing the lower parts of the music, and it is very rare for them to sing the melody, hence we rejoice!)

I have o say, this has possibly been the best week of my life what with Peter's decision, Mr. Frick's recovery and that beautiful song. I'm on a n emotional high that's gonna last for months!

I just have to say this: IMacs are the most vile pieces of technology on the planet.

Due to mysterious problems with the internet on my lovely Windows 98 I have not been able to check the Blogs I frequent or post on my own. Also, due to my lack of interesting life occurrences, I have not felt the need to post. But, for several reasons, (one of them being Andy's persistence) I now feel the need to post.

Those of you who spoke to me on Monday may be interested to know that my French test went very well. I haven't received my grade yet, but I'm pretty confident that I did reasonably well. But, that really isn't the reason I posted at all. I have more important things to rant about!

Yesterday was probably one of the best days of my life. It was tiring, exciting, and heart-wrenching all at the same time. Yesterday afternoon I got on the internet and logged on to AIM. I hung out for a while and chatted, then quit to go eat some pizza. After I finished eating my dinner (which was delicious by the way) I grabbed my Biology homework and headed back to my computer. I, once again, logged on and began chatting while studying for my Bio test. I noticed that Peter was on , but he had his away message up, I had this strange feeling that Peter actually was around, so I tried to get his attention and it turned out my guess was right, he was there. I talked to him for a while, he seemed a little down, so I tried to encourage him by telling him how much God loves him and cares about him, even when it seems like other people aren't. Much to my surprise and to delight, Peer seemed interested in discussing the subject. But sadly, I soon had to leave for choir practice at my church, I apologized profusely, then headed out to church, all this while praying for Peter's salvation.

When I got to church, I enlisted the help of my many Christian friends, pleading with them to pray for Peter that night. When I got home, I didn't immediately return to my computer, I really needed to study for that bio test, but thankfully, I knew the material better than I had thought and was able to return to my computer after only 15-20 minutes of intense study.

As soon as I logged on I dove into theology with Peter, I won't bore you wit the details of our discussion, but, needless to say, it was taxing for both parties. While talking to Peter, I enlisted the help of my other Christin friends who were on AIM at the time. Peter now had at least 13 people praying for him, wile I was trying to sway him. Finally, after intense prayer and a lot of discussion, at approximately 11:45 PM on Dec. 10, 2003, Peter Sandin accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. I was simply delighted, and I still am.

After telling him to pray hard and get some rest, I retired to my bed. I could barely sleep, I kept on thinking of all of the wonderful things that were in store for Peter. Today every time I thought about Peter's new found joy I couldn't help but smile.

I know that Peter's journey from here on out will not be perfect or easy, but I also know that he will be rewarded for those trials he will endure in the end. My prayer is now that Peter will be blessed by his new-found heavenly father, and I praise God that I was given the opportunity to have a hand in another one of God's children coming home.

God Bless

Today marks the most interesting day of my high school career.

There I was, 7th period, sitting in Health class finishing some tedious book work. While most other people worked in pairs and groups of three, I had opted to work alone, knowing I could complete the assignment in much speedier fashion if I did so. I had been working for a while when a guy was standing next my desk, talking to someone on my right. Because Miss. Skyles (our teacher) was out of the room, he stood there for some time, not having to worry about the wrath of our twenty-three year-old taskmaster. I was quite annoyed by his presence because the space between the rows of desks are quite small and he was practically sitting on my desk, but after a while he went back to sit at his own desk. A short time later, the partner of the person this guy had been talking to said something I found quite strange. This girl asked her partner, "Are you a stoner?" When I heard this, I immediately looked up, trying to determine why she would ask such a thing. I honestly do not remember what this guy said to her, but she said something else about having to "light it" and something else I can't quite remember. Then the guy got up and went back to the guy who had been talking to him and dropped something on the desk. I immediately knew what it was, and you may have already guessed as well...

It was a joint. That's right people, pot, weed, marijuana. It's was rather shocking for someone, such as myself, who has led such a sheltered life. So anyway, after deep consideration (spanning over about 10 seconds) I decided to report this illegal activity to the teacher after class was over. I assume the first guy gave the pot to the second guy, but I can't be sure. All I know is, it's illegal either way.

After class ended, I approached her, told her which guy had had the pot, she told me she would report it right away, and now I wait. I have no idea what happens next, but, nonetheless, I wait.

I find this experience very disturbing. I don't know why though. I know this tuff goes on at school all the time, I have no reason to be surprised about it. I suppose I am just surprised at how openly the spot was passed about.

Needless to say, I will be avoiding this person like the plague from now on.

Heart-wrenching crushes are teh suxor.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Which PA character are you?

How...strange.
I'm a shmuck. Molly, you have been looking at my site for a while now and I have not even taken the time to say hi. So here it is, hi Molly! Welcome to the Twilight Zone, I'll be your host, Lynsey Queen of all things strange. If you want to add a comments thingy to your blog, click on the Haloscan link on my sidebar, it'll show you what to do.

French is teh suxor.

My brother (Nathan, Nate-o, Nathano, etc.) did quite well on his SAT's, we're all quite proud of him. 1450 is the score to beat, I think I'm up to it. I am also talented verbally, and I'll study really hard on the math stuff. I shall persevere and triumph!

I can also put up a quiz-thingy! SIDEBAR!
I'm home! YAY!

My life now officially has a "G" rating. I don't know whether to be glad that my life is calm, quiet and conservative enough to be "suitable for all audiences" or depressed at the serious lack of interesting things happening in my life. hmmm....

I now must go and catch up on everything I missed while abroad, adios.
